Square Root: √

1. How to Work with Square Roots

🧠 A square root is the opposite of squaring a number.

So when you see something like √25, you can think of it like this: √25 = √(5²) = 5

Because:

  • 5² = 5x5 = 25

  • So the square root of 25 is just the number that was squared → 5

2. Example

✏️ Evaluate √25 + √16

Step-by-step:

√25 = √(5²) = 5

√16 = √(4²) = 4

Now add them: 5 + 4 = 9

Answer: 9

🎯 Top Tips:

⭐ A square root “undoes” a square.

⭐ If you can rewrite a number as something squared (like 36 = 6²), then its square root is that number.

⭐ Always look for perfect squares like 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, etc.
